1. My first musical performance ever was when I was 4 – I sang a song for my family, and then pooped my pants. The same thing happened to me when I was 23. And then again when I was 37. Go figure.
2. I have an irrational fear of water which makes it difficult to get my 8 glasses a day.
3. I used to be a grave digger in a previous life.
4. Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like to been born an actual woman and not just born with the mood swings and emotions of a woman. I think I’m gonna cry now.
5. I met Richard Marx at Waldenbooks and he autographed a guitar magazine for me in 1989. His hair was bigger than his head.
6. I’m a huge Rick Springfield fan – and have listened to him since I was 9 years old. I’ve been to over 50 Rick Springfield concerts since 1999, and I’ve gotten to talk with him several times. It is tough trying to convince him that I’m just a super-fan and not just a super-creepy stalker-type.
7. I’m a lover of all things from the ‘80’s. In 1883, Thomas Edison invented the Light bulb; In 1884 Mark Twain completed Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and most importantly, in 1888 A new magazine called National Geographic was first published, enabling me to see real tribal people in various states of dress (or undress.) Yes, 1888 was a wonderful year……
8. I have several phrases that I use way too much – “I’m living the dream” “I don’t even know what that means!” “See what I did there!” “I think I’m gonna cry” and the worst of all “Yes, I would love a second helping of (insert food item that goes right to my mid-section/hips here!!!)”
9. My favorite fair food is corn on the cob (no butter, extra salt) and big salty pretzels.
10. I want to be a singer/songwriter. But vocally I can’t carry a tune in a bucket, and even though I like words, I have problems stringing them together in a lyric format.
11. I have very schizophrenic listening tendencies when it comes to music – I can go from 1980’s hair metal to Country to New Age to Blues all within the course of an hour. That is, unless, The Final Countdown by Europe comes up on shuffle – then I have to listen to it minimum 5 times in a row. It’s just so filled with rock majesty!
12. The worst gig EVER for me was when I played in a wedding ceremony on the roof of the Monona Terrace in the middle of July – it was 107 degrees (no lie) with no covering for the wedding party from the mid-day sun. I was completely sweat-soaked from head to toe and my poor acoustic guitar got so hot I couldn’t keep it in tune and my fingertips kept sticking to the strings. You know it’s bad when after the ceremony the wedding guests said how bad they felt for me. It was a beautiful ceremony and the wedding couple was happy, so that’s all that really matters.
13. I like words and I have a tendency to be entirely too verbose.
14. I buy a lot of books but don’t read them.
15. I REALLY don’t like feet.
16. I am the king of saying the wrong thing at the most inappropriate time – Despite my answer for #15; I think I must love the taste of my shoe.
17. I’m amazed how much of the music on my mp3 player is from former American Idol contestants/winners. Am I really that easily impressionable?!
18. Even with all of the pissing and moaning I do, I consider myself to be extremely blessed with my friends and family.
19. I’m guilty of texting and driving. Like you don’t do it! ;)
20. I am a total pen geek – if I see a new pen, I have to buy it and try it. And if you lend me a pen and I like it, just accept the fact that you’re not getting it back.
21. I have a guitar magazine collection with issues dating back to 1983. And, most of them are in Frank’s basement.
22. I’m obsessed with checking my checkbook. I can’t keep it balanced to save my life, but I check it at least twice a day in the hopes that magically more money will appear.
23. Some days I think I love looking at guitars more than I like playing them.
24. I teach beginning guitar lessons at the Sussex Community Center. Trying to teach a room full of 8 year olds guitar sure keeps life interesting. :)
